A Tale of Two Sisters

Here is my entry from last week’s Ad Hoc competition. A bit different in style so I would welcome any comments on whether it works or not!

Two sisters named Barnes. One tall and quiet; one short and mouthy.

One Friday night pub trip. Two pints of ale, one packet of peanuts.

One booth in the corner, two phones on the table. No messages received.

Six glances at the doorway. One shake of the head, one muttered insult.

Five pounds on the fruity, two pints of ale and one packet of pork scratchings.

Two trips to the ladies; one swipe of lip gloss, one spritz of perfume, one toilet blockage.

Two gin and slimlines, one heated discussion, no messages received.

Two elbows jostling, one bottom pinched, one frosty reception.

One bottle of house white, two glasses with that. No change from a tenner.

One phone call unanswered, one voicemail left. One shake of the head.

Two sisters, two jackets, one trip to the kebab shop.

One morning, two hangovers, one new resolution.
